When someone talks about the boys of summer what comes to mind?  For most people it is either Baseball or for those of you who grew up in the 80′s the hit song The Boys of Summer by Don Henley.  But I think about these beautiful little boys below.  We have 2 boys out of our current Meeka/Lukie litter available for adoption.  Please contact us if you would like more information.

Retirement is bitter sweet

In the labradoodle world retirement may mean something different than what we dream of our retirement to be when we finally get to retire.  I dream of a day that I get to sleep in without running late, taking a vacation without questioning if it works around anyone elses schedule and being able to go anywhere during the week without taking the time off.  As a labradoodle retirement means that your dog has finished their breeding career.  Over the last year we have retired our Brenna, and recently our Daisy.  This is also Meeka’s last litter and she will be formally retired over the next couple months. We have been very lucky to find great homes for our retired girls so we will have room to continue breeding this wonderful breed.  But doing this means that you will miss something that you have grown close too.  Brenna, Daisy & Meeka will always be a big part of our breeding program and they will never be forgotten.

Meeka’s puppies have grown so much in the last week. I love this age, their eyes open and they start to roll around more. I can’t wait for the next couple weeks, when they start to crawl around and find their voices.

Trimming your dogs claws (toenails) | Northwest Australian Labradoodles

Trimming your dogs claws may be a little intimidiating, but it is necessary.  Most dogs don’t like to get their claws trimmed.  If you start at a early age then it will become second nature to your dog.

There are two types of clippers, guillotine style & scissor style.  Some say that the guillotine style is easier to use, but I prefer to use the scissor style which you can find at www.thriftypetsupply.com

For step by step instructions visit the WSU College of Veterinay Medicine website http://www.vetmed.wsu.edu/ClientED/dog_claws.aspx

The Labradoodle Craze

Labradoodles can be seen everywhere these days, from your local dog park to movies and television.  Recently while watching Modern Family on ABC my ears lit up, I was excited to hear Phil (Ty Burrell) mention a labradoodle.  It made me think where else are labradoodles being used in advertising.

I did a little research and found that labradoodles can be seen everywhere from print ads, commercials, television shows & movies.  I found Labradoodles used in print ads for Target, Tommy Hilfiger & Ralph Lauren. They were also featured in commercials for WalMart, Tommy Hilfiger & Optimum Rewards.  Labradoodles had appearances in movies such as Eat Pray Love & War of the Worlds.

These are just a sampling of the appearances that I found, and I am sure that there are more to come.

Dog Spinach Bites Recipe

Categories: recipes

Ingredients
3 and ½ cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/3 cup of canola oil
1 and ½ teaspoons of honey
1/3 cup of fresh spinach, chopped
Skim milk

Preparation

  1. In a bowl mix the flour and baking powder together, then add in the oil and mix it well. Then add 1 cup of water (at normal temperature), the honey, and the spinach and work it into a soft dough (this can be easily done with a fork or spoon). Once it has mixed well turn the dough out over onto a floured surface and knead with your hands.
  2. Allow the dough to sit for around 10 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  4. Break the dough into two and divide those two pieces into halves and continue to do so until you get around 14 to 16 pieces. Then roll the pieces of dough into round shapes and brush them with milk and dust them with flour.
  5. Place the spinach bites on a slightly greased and floured baking sheet and press them onto the sheet slightly. Put them in the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until they are light golden.
  6. Once done, allow them to cool to normal temperature before serving out.

Store them in an airtight container for no more than 4 days, or wrap them well in freezer wrap and store them in the freezer for up to 60 days.

I found this recipe on seefido.com
